This year’s Retune Festival 2016 was a true experimental playground for artists, designers, tech-lovers and of course storytellers, particularly its section “Immersed Narratives – Exploring the opportunities of storytelling in virtual reality”. I am still new to the opportunities VR offers for telling non-linear stories, guiding users on their journey through an entire storyverse and of course the technologies and platforms behind the experience. So I signed up for a Workshop on vvvvR, a visual/textual live-programming environment. While I expected mostly a presentation and probably demonstration of available hardware and platforms, I was excited that we were not only to watch but actually prototype and test a little something ourselves. It didn’t take long and I joined a dodo in a floating tyre to explore and create some vr landscapes made of pineapples. There is a story to everything, I presume.
